  4. Salmon
  5. Brussel Sprouts
  6. Almonds
  7. Yogurt
  8. Pomegranates
  9. Sweet Potatoes
  10. Chicken Soup

These are just a few examples of flu-fighting foods. In general, fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat dairy are good choices. However, consume a variety of products that provide the vitamins and minerals necessary for good health. Probiotics, found in yogurt, are also important to fight off the flu and other illnesses. In addition, prebiotics are a soluble fiber promoting the growth of probiotics and can be found in almonds, whole grains, bananas, honey, onions, artichokes, and garlic.

The best defense against the virus is the flu vaccine. Wash your hands often and take other preventative measures to stop the spread of germs. Stock your kitchen with these and other foods that will give your immune system a boost and help guard you and your family against the flu this winter.
